At first glance, the Calibre Heuer 02 movement definitely looked the part. What initially stood out from the design was the black rotor and the Côtes de Genève machine finish. Obviously at this point we couldn’t yet judge the accuracy, but we could evaluate it’s beauty and design. My first impression of the movement was very impressive. To prepare for our review, we were fortunate to get hands on with a Carrera, ref. This innovation allowed TAG to make strides in their watchmaking abilities and to compete against other established brands. For TAG to manufacture the Heuer 02 movement to fit some of their most iconic watches was an extremely intelligent decision. The Heuer 02 movement features a 12-hour chronograph and date complication. For the first time TAG had an in-house movement that they could showcase to the world and fit within their most iconic collections, the Carrera and Monaco. That all changed when the TAG Heuer Calibre Heuer 02 was released in 2020. For a long time, it felt odd that a brand such as TAG Heuer was not manufacturing their own movements.
